Runaway Slide at LMAC with the Basement Superheroes

We opened another show for the Basement Superheroes. This time it was at Laurier Macdonald High School. We were happy with the way the students of LMAC welcomed us . We played a set of only our songs and the student reaction was very good.

Runaway Slide and the Basement Superheroes Show

This show took place at Laval Liberty High School. We love it when we get the chance to perform but playing at a high school is very different then playing in clubs or festival stages. Since the fans are our age there is a certain energy in the air that's hard to explain.

This show was the first of many promotional shows for the Basement Superheroes. We were very happy to have been asked to open the show. We were a little nervous at first since our music is very different than that of the Basement Superheroes. But the fans made us feel right at home. They loved all of our tunes whether they were hard rock or bluesy :D

This show was sort of the kick-off to the Can Your School Rock Season 2 competition. The hosts of the competition interviewed the bands just like they've done in the competition last season. As a matter of fact, the stage, lights and camera crew were in preparation for the start of the competition scheduled for the 6th and 7th of February.

A special thank-you to all the new fans that we met after the show. We're sorry that we don't have a picture of all of you who came and say hi. Believe it when we say that we really appreciate you taking the time to come to talk to us. We hope to see you all at our future shows.

Runaway Slide at Bourbon Street West January 2010

Wow! Our first performance in 2010 and we couldn't have asked for a better venue. Bourbon Street West is a always a great place to play. Not only does this place have a history of important artists but it enables you to be up close to the audience and the sound is great.

A good portion of our set included all or our own music including a brand new song that we just completed to write a week before the show called "(come) Fly with me." Judging from the reaction of the crowd this song ROCKS!!

What was also exciting is that we opened for the Paul Deslauriers Band. Paul Deslauriers, Sam Harrison and Gregoire Morency are a bunch of talented guys that are always fun to listen to. We've known these guys since Runaway Slide first started to play (2006) and we consider them good friends.

Brian Slack (ZEB Productions) presented Paul Deslauriers with a birthday cake in order to celebrate his 40th birthday. Hey Brian!, how come we didn't get a cake when we turned 15!! (Just kidding :)

Runaway Slide Opening for Guy Belanger

Hi, We haven't performed since the end of the summer and we were anxious to get back on stage. This was going to be a special performance for Runaway Slide because we got the opportunity to open for the Guy Belanger Quintet. This was our second time that we were given this opportunity and it was important to us that we performed well.

You have to understand that the music of Guy Belanger is very different than ours. If you would attend his concert it would be like as if you were listening to very soothing music with moments of high energy. He's a great harmonica player and story teller and is surrounded by experienced and talented musicians.

Our music is raunchier and is high energy from start to end. So here we are having to perform our style of music to an audience that is expecting to listen to Guy Belangers' refined and soothing type of music. I think you get the picture :)

We needed to be true to ourselves and perform in the style that Runaway Slide is known to perform. We did our thing and we even brought up the energy another notch. To our surprise the audience responded to our performance with applause and a standing ovation. We couldn't ask for more.

A big thank-you to Brian Slack of ZEB Productions and Guy Belanger for giving us this opportunity. A thank-you also to Irene and Lise of La société de blues de Montréal for helping us sell our T-Shirts and posters.

Trois Rivieres en Blues 2009

Although we were excited to be going to Trois Rivieres to perform, there was something sad about this day. It was our last festival show of the summer. The summer just flew by lousy weather and all!! But that wasn’t going to let us down. We had a show to perform and what a show it was at Trois Rivieres en Blues.

When we got on stage the sun was shining and there were over 300 people in the street waiting to see what Runaway Slide was all about. Judging from their reaction, the people from Trois Rivieres love their blues.

Thanks to John Saladino of Korg Canada for loaning us a Samson wireless system for our guitars. It was definitely liberating and sounded great. This enabled the guitar to be played in the middle of the street up to 100 feet from the stage. The people definitely got a kick out of that.

The people in Trois Rivieres were very friendly and supportive. They showed their appreciation by taking pictures with us, picking up some of our t-shirts and posters.

Another highlight in Trois Rivieres was getting the opportunity to play along side Paul Deslauriers and his band during the evening jam. They’re all great musicians with Sam Harrison on Drums and Greg Morency on Bass. The picture above comes from a local paper and also from the Cyberpress.ca. Also joining the jam was Jim Zeller.

Let’s not forget to thank Ann and Domenic for the hospitality that they showed us and our families. They are friends who live about 15 minutes outside of Trois Rivieres and invited us all to their home for a delicious brunch.

We’ve had one of our best summers as Runaway Slide! We’ve been playing show’s after show’s more than any other summer. It has made us improve as a band and as individual musicians. Thanks to Brian Slack of Zeb Prorductions for believing in us, to our parents for making it possible for us to play our music and to travel, and to fans like you that make us want to continue to do what we are doing.

Victoriaville Blues Festival 2009

When we arrived in Victoriaville Trevor Finlay was doing a sound check. He was performing with Domenic Romanelli on Bass and Sam Harrison on Drums. Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures of him or his band :( After their sound check it was our turn. They had a very nice stage setup. However, we only saw the tip of the iceberg. Things really came alive after dark with their light show and smoke machine.

The lights were amazing!! We were also told by some fans that the sound was great! Victoriaville went out of their way for this show. We were very impressed. Kudos to the city, organizers and all the staff. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate this time. After 45 minutes of our 60 minute set it started to rain with thunder and lightning. The large crowd that had gathered started to leave.

Those with umbrella's remained but then it really started to pour. The sound men had to come and cover everything on stage as the wind started to wet all the equipment. We took what we can and went for cover. The organizers had a trailer home behind the stage reserved for artists so that's where we stayed with our parents for at least an other hour until the rain calmed down. By that time all other shows were cancelled including Trevor Finlay.

Despite what happened we still ended up having a great time. While we were in the trailer home we had the opportunity to speak with our agent, Brian Slack. Sam Harrison also had a chat with us. Angel Forest dropped by to say hello.
